ROADS THAT NEED BENDING

First off, I want to thank all the people who have helped improve the quality of the road data.

Still there is many more roads that still need work. Admittedly, many of these roads are not very interesting--they're in urban areas where there are a number of possible routes with no particular one being better than another. Even with that caveat, there are many roads that still need to be bent, particularly in the South Bay region.

  LATEST ROAD DATA

Before you start bending roads, make sure you have the latest version of KLIMB's road data. Download klimb.nodes and put it into the sfbay.zone sub-directory in the KLIMB directory (which is typically c:\Program Files\klimb\).

  FINDING AND BENDING A ROAD

Okay, I want to bend some of the roads near where I live, how do I do it?
  1. Make sure you have at least version 4.0 of KLIMB and that you have the latest road data (see above).
  2. Become superuser by going to the Tools->Options menu and turning it on.
  3. Select View->Show Bad Data to highlight all roads that still need bending.
  4. Right-click on the road you want to bend and select Zoom road.
  5. In the zoom window, right-click on points that you want the road to pass through (Ctrl-right click is a short-cut).
  6. Press the * button. This will cause KLIMB to query the USGS for the altitude of all your waypoints.

OK, I've bent some roads, now what?

Save the updated data and send it to me. Use the File->Save User Data command to save the data and then send the resulting file to me.
